Diezani Alison-Madueke is primarily known for her career as a politician. She has held several ministerial positions within the Nigerian government. From 2007 to 2015, she served as Minister of Transportation, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and most notably, Minister of Petroleum Resources, becoming the first woman to hold this position in Nigeria.

Early Life And Education.

Diezani Alison-Madueke was born on 6 December 1960 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Her early life and education were rooted in Nigeria before she pursued further studies abroad. She began her education at Shell camp schools and later attended Hussey Model School after the Nigerian Civil War.

Despite facing challenges, she enrolled in Township School, Port Harcourt, in 1968. She completed her secondary education at Holy Rosary Government Girls Secondary School, obtaining her West African School Certificate (WASCE) in 1975. She furthered her studies at the Federal School of Arts and Sciences in Mubi (now Adamawa State) and completed her A’ Levels.

This led to her moving to the United Kingdom in 1977 to pursue a degree in Architecture. However, she eventually shifted her studies to the United States and attended Howard University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1992.

Later 2002, she earned her MBA from Cambridge Judge Business School. Interestingly, Diezani Alison-Madueke reportedly received a prestigious Chevening scholarship to support her studies in the UK.

She was born and raised by her parents, Frederick Abiye Agama and Beatrice Agama. She had one sibling, Osiyo Agama, who was her only brother.

Two of her stepchildren are Chimezie Madueke and Ogonna Madueke. Despite her busy schedule, Alison-Madueke also managed to further her education and received an honorary Doctorate in Management Sciences from the Nigerian Defence Academy in 2011.
