I looked around to be sure it Mark and Rachael knew mum had looked is in, judging from their confused blended with surprise facial expression, I knew that they shared the same thought with me.


Why would she lock us? What was our fate?

I let our a silent sigh and resigned to sit on the bed, Rachael sat on the other end of the bed.

One hour and several minutes gone, mum was not still back and nobody said a word.


The room was as quiet as a grave yard. If a tiny pin dropped it would echo loudly in the room.

Mark leaned on the wall raising his foot his right foot backwards to rest on the wall. I bet he was tired of that posture but he endured probably because any little sound at that moment would capture our attention, and of course he didn’t want to meet I and Rachel’s deadly stare.

I am tired of everything, God please I won’t do it again. I prayed within.

I tilted my head to the left to confirm who uttered that even tho I was very sure who owns the voice. “I am sorry, I didn’t know… I didn’t know you were having an affair with him” Rachel’s voiced out again, this time tears was visible on her face.

I was really surprised. Rachael?! She has never ever apologized to me since we both grew up, and its been long I ever saw her cry.

I left my mouth agape, I could not hide my surprise. All of a sudden she broke down and tears as she cried our, sobbing and buried her face on her kneel.


I quickly drew close to her and patted her back. “It’s okay” I whispered, as my own tears choked me, still I was determined not to cry. Mark stood still watching the both of us.
